Meet the CEO and Leadership Team

Sue Geals

CEO

Sue brings a wealth of experience in the education sector, having served as the Chief Executive Officer of Community College Gippsland for eight years. In this role, she applied her expertise in teaching, strategic planning, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships. Sue is also a dedicated member of the Board of Adult Community Education Victoria (ACEVic), a leading organisation representing 240 not-for-profit community groups across Victoria that offer low-cost or free Learn Local courses.

Sharee Castagna

Manager - Education and Support

Sharee joined The Centre in 2005 and has gained her extensive skills and knowledge of the education sector through the organisation in roles such as enrolment and administration, trainer and assessor, program coordination and quality and compliance officer. In 2022, Sharee became Manager of the Education and Support Department and oversees 3 areas including Vocational Education and Training (VET), Adult and Community Further Education (ACFE) and Skills First Reconnect.

Mathew Byrn

Manager – Quality and Compliance

Mat joined The Centre in 2013 after working in the school and RTO environment for 12 years. Mat specialised in quality management and contractual and regulatory requirements. In 2022, Mat became Manager of the Quality and Compliance Team and oversees 4 areas including Compliance, Design and Development, Corporate Services and Facilities.

Carmel Shanley

Manager Finance

Carmel has extensive experience in finance, administration management and leadership. Carmel also dedicated over 20 years to volunteering in the not-for-profit sector with a Bayside Lifesaving Club as a Lifeguard, Club Secretary, Club Treasurer and Life Governor before moving back to North East Victoria. Carmel joined The Centre in 2018 as the Finance and Payroll Officer. In 2023, Carmel became the Finance Manager who oversees Accounts and Payroll at The Centre
