Sue Geals, CEO of The Centre for Continuing Education

Sue Geals

CEO

Sue took over from Felicity Williams as CEO of The Centre on 1 August. Before, Sue worked as the Chief Executive Officer at Community College Gippsland for 8 years. She is also the current Chair of Adult Community Education Victoria (ACEVic), the peak body of 240 not-for-profit community organisations across Victoria that deliver low-cost or free learn local courses.

Sharee Castagna

Manager - Education and Support

Sharee has been with The Centre for 17 years. In 2004, Sharee came through CVGT to The Centre as a work for the dole participant on a 6 month trail. In 2005, she was employed as a trainee in Business Administration to complete her Certificate II in Business and Certificate III in Business Administration, whilst being the Enrolment and administration officer servicing The Centre’s Business Services team with a high focus on Traineeship enrolments and administration. In 2008 Sharee completed her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and moved into a Trainer/Assessor role teaching trainee’s in Certificate II and III in Business and Business Administration. In early 2010 Sharee took on a Program Coordination role building relationships with external stakeholders and coordinating The Centre’s General Interest programs. By mid 2010 Sharee moved into the position of Quality and Compliance Officer. Sharee managed and implemented the changes to VET requirements through the VRQA and Skill First. Sharee became The Centre’s compliance subject matter expert, completed all Internal and External auditing and Internal staff training. In 2017 and 2018 Sharee enrolled in a Degree in Business (Management) and took on her current position of Manager – Vocational Education and Training Department. Sharee has a department with 3 teams and 11 staff members managing The Centre’s delivery of all Accredited, Pre-accredited and Fee for Service delivery throughout the Hume Region.

Mathew Byrn

Manager – Quality and Compliance

Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Diploma of Education P-12, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - Mat worked in the education and training sector for 12 years in schools and RTO environments. He has quality management experience of 8 years in a RTO contractual and regulatory environment, and 5 years of management experience in across different areas of schools and RTO’s.

Carmel Shanley

Manager Finance

In her new role since February of 2023, Carmel began her career at The Centre in August of 2018 as our finance and payroll officer. Along with Carmel’s qualifications of an Associate Diploma in Accounting, a Graduate Diploma in Business Management and a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking), Carmel also brings with her over 30years of leadership experience in finance and administration management. Carmel also has undertaken 20 years of great work, volunteering in the not-for-profit sector with a Bayside Lifesaving Club as Lifeguard, Club Secretary, Club Treasurer and Life Governor.
