About the Role
The Project Officer will work within the Sport North East team to implement the Sport and Active Recreation Volunteer Matching Program. This role will be responsible for promoting the benefits of volunteering amongst various stakeholder organisations, recruiting and matching volunteers with local sport and active recreation clubs across the northeast region. The Project Officer will also work with local clubs to implement suitable ideas/solutions to build their capacity and capability for recruiting and retaining volunteers. This role will be delivered across 5 LGAs (Alpine, Indigo, Towong, Wangaratta and Wodonga).
You will:
- Recruit sport and active recreation clubs to be part of the program.
- Liaise with community agencies such as Job Active Providers, Community Health organisations, Indigenous organisations, Multicultural organisations, and other relevant community organisations to promote the program and recruit prospective volunteers for the S&AR sector.
- Assist local sport and active recreation clubs to identify their volunteer related needs and implement relevant solutions to address gaps in volunteer recruitment and management.
About You
The Centre is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and self-motivated project officer who is passionate about supporting volunteers in sporting clubs and active recreational organisations. You will have an understanding of how important volunteering is in the community.
Required skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and recruit volunteers and clubs/organisations.
- Excellent MS Suite (Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook), accuracy in database management.
- Ability to coordinate activities to meet project outcomes and timelines.
Qualifications and Licences
- Qualifications in project management, sports management, business management related discipline.
- Current employee Victorian Working with Children Check Card (WWCC)
- Satisfactory National Police Records Check
- Current Driver’s license

- A document that addresses the following key selection criteria:
- Project management skills and experience in project and/or event planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Knowledge and experience within the sport and recreation industry and club-based environments (or demonstrated ability to quickly develop an understanding of new sectors).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders across sport and active recreation, government, community organisations and corporate sectors to achieve project/initiative/program outcomes.
