Develop your job seeking skills, and literacy and numeracy in a supportive, adult learning environment with our accredited language, literacy and numeracy program.

Find out how you can learn differently and how much fun it can be.  You can begin with the basics or build on the skills you already have to develop your reading, writing, maths and communication skills.  Units of study are topic based; a great way to build on your reading and writing while investigating areas of personal interest.

NRT Develop the skills to excel in your community.

This course is intended to support learners with permanent intellectual disabilities to develop the skills to find the most appropriate option for them in the community after leaving school. This may include employment, volunteer work or further study.

Certificate I in Work Education

NRT Develop the skills to prepare for the workforce.

This course is for adult learners with permanent intellectual disabilities to develop the skills to explore work options and access pathways to further specific vocational education and training. It supports learners to improve their employability and work readiness.

Certificate III in Education Support

NRT Train to become a teachers aide.

This course will give you the skills to work in a range of education settings, including public and independent schools and community education settings, who provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad-based supervision.

Two days per week for 18 weeks plus 120 hours work placement. Learners must have a current Working With Children Card prior to commencing Work Placement.

Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community)

NRT Work in Aged Care or Home and Community Care.

This course is the first step to gaining a career in the fastest growing industry in Australia.  You will be trained to work in a community and/or residential setting and learn to follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

Certificate IV in Disability

NRT Empower those with disabilities.

This course will train you to work in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, you will provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing.  Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

For students who have completed their CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support at The Centre or elsewhere*, you can get up to 7 Credit Transfers (that’s 50% of the course) out of the CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability.  * Will depend on units completed as part of their course.

Two days per week for 32 weeks plus 120 hours work placement.

Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (Foundation)

NRT Study Year 11 and 12 in a more ‘hands on’ environment.

The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is a hands-on option for students in Years 11 and 12. It gives students practical work related skills, as well as the literacy, numeracy and personal skills they need to take them into further training or their ideal job.

VCAL Levels
  • Foundation - Skills building level with high teacher support.
  • Intermediate - Learners have a degree of self-directed and facilitated learning with teacher support.
  • Senior - Curriculum supports projects in the community and enhancing the learning of other learners through project implementation skills building.
