Our newest Life Member Joe Caruso

Life Member Joe Caruso

Joe Caruso joined the Board of Governance in 1999 and served for 18 years. He brought considerable skills in finance, audit and management to The Centre’s governance.

In 2000 Joe was elected Treasurer of the Board. He was Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee from 2013 until 2017. More recently Joe was Chair of the new Finance Committee. His leadership of these committees was significant.

We are up for some Awards

Learn LocalThe Centre is to be awarded Learn Local Legend for the Hume region, nominated by ACFE Hume Regional Council.

We are also a finalist in the Excellence in Creating Local Solutions Award category for our Manufacturing Entry Level Worker program.

The winner of the latter will be announced at the Awards Presentation Dinner which will be held on Thursday 31 August. Wish us luck.

Jeans for Genes Day

We had a terrific event for Genes for Jeans raising $129.15 on the day thanks to all those involved. Congratulations to Joel Binion for winning our Denim Challenge.

Program success for job seekers.

Youth Jobs PaTHA new program developed by The Centre and funded by the Federal Government is getting impressive results.

Youth Jobs PaTH is a new, flexible program designed to prepare young people for work. The Centre, in partnership with Swinburne university of Technology, is delivering the PREPARE element – Employability Skills Training.

The program comprises of two three-week blocks of training designed to enhance young job seekers opportunities to find meaningful employment.

VicHealth Active Club Grants:

The latest round of VicHealth’s Active Club Grants are now open. The funding has two outcome areas which aim to increase the opportunities Victorians have to participate in community sport clubs.

Outcome Area 1: Increasing female participation in sport – this aims to support clubs to implement initiatives that will engage more women and girls in sport, including new teams, new competitions, and new programs.

Outcome Area 2: Supporting social and modified sport – this aims to support clubs to implement new social or modified sport programs that target less active Victorians.

Child Safe Standards Information Sessions

In partnership with Alpine Shire Council, we have 2 sessions coming up in Bright and Mt Beauty. We recommend all clubs attend, with information on the standards, club’s legal obligations, and developing you club’s action plan, policies, strategies and resources being provided.

Bright – September 13 (6.30 – 7.30pm)
Mt Beauty – September 20 (6.30 – 7.30pm)
