Local Drug Action Team (LDAT)

The Centre is proud to play a leadership role in helping address drug use in our community. Our organisation auspices the Wangaratta Local Drug Action Team’s Project Officer and contributes to the Beyond Ice campaign.

Beyond Ice is a local initiative to help problematic drug users and their families. It’s about improving our community’s awareness of the facts and issues surrounding drugs, especially Ice, and helping us know what to do if we or someone we know is a user.

Long-term and sustained recovery from drug use is much more difficult for people who lack education, financial security, and the support of family, friends, and colleagues. Meaningful employment plays an important role in recovery. It provides more than just a job and income; it also helps people feel valued and connected.

If you’ve been out of the workforce for a while, your employability skills can get rusty, and that’s where our programs can help. Our work-ready programs, including our new Getting There and Reconnect initiatives, will help you develop core work skills required in today’s workplaces – such as team work, computers in the workplace, problem-solving. We also help you gain confidence for interviews and tackling the hidden job market. We include learning activities using real workplace documents. For those who need it, we can spend time coaching them on how to have what might be a difficult conversation about their past with a prospective employer.

“We’re all in this together.”

It’s important that we each make every effort we can to ensure everyone in our community has access to effective and engaging educational programs that develop personal awareness and achieve real outcomes that build aspiration, hope and a pathway to employment and economic empowerment. Our team at The Centre are immensely proud of the active community role we play, and of the courses we run and the outcomes they achieve.
