AHC30116 Certificate III in Agriculture


Train on a farm in Myrtleford.

This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture at a Certificate III level.

The course is suited to people:

  • Who maybe setting up or moving onto a rural property for the first time
  • seeking employment in the agricultural / horticultural vocational areas
  • wanting to consolidate existing skills and knowledge into a qualification
  • those working as contractors or volunteers in the rural sector
  • wanting to undertake an on-the-job – Traineeship


You will learn farming basics and agriculture essentials including:

  • Chemical users licensing requirements including the preparation, application and storage of farm chemicals
  • General mechanical maintenance of farm machinery
  • Operating tractors and farm machinery
  • Forklift operators licensing requirements
  • Plan, construct and maintain farm fencing
  • Implement property improvement, construction and repair
  • Livestock management including, implementing health control programs, administering medication, livestock identification and drafting
  • Work Health and Safety relating to all aspects of an agricultural workplace
  • Implementing environmentally sustainable work practices
  • First Aid training


The course is offered on farm and is based on practical training in a working environment. You will learn to use a range of hand tools, machinery and equipment and the practical skills required to use them to complete work projects and activities.

Assessments, based on the activities undertaken during training, are conducted in the field or in the on-farm classroom and are conducted progressively throughout the course.

The course is suited to a range of age groups and backgrounds. No prior knowledge, qualifications or licensing is required to be accepted for enrolment in this course.

The course is offered in the following formats:

  • In class (on farm)  – two days per week for 8 months, rolling enrolments

    – Classes will be held on Thursdays and Fridays, 8.30am til 5pm.
