Annual General Meeting

Our 2019 AGM held on the 26th of March 2019, presented an opportunity for The Centre to share stories of our learners’ journeys and achievements in some of our programs during 2018.

The evening featured Tegan Allen (Certificate III in Individual Support) and Chelsea King (Getting There – an integrated mix of pre-accredited and accredited courses) whose stories highlighted the impact of The Centre’s work in empowering individuals to unlock their potential through participation and pathways.

The evening also acknowledged Sport North East’s women in sport program, Learn Support Lead, which was a finalist in the annual VicSport Awards in the category VicHealth Sport Development Initiative of the Year. Sue Synnot spoke about the benefits of this twelve-months program in developing her own leadership skills and her work in encouraging leadership potential in other women in sport.

2018 has seen an incredible delivery of results for The Centre, with increased enrolments, great learner and client outcomes, and sustainable profitability for the organisation.

We were pleased to report a positive financial result in 2018, enabling The Centre to further invest in achieving our vision of ‘vibrant communities that value learning’. The positive results of the past year have allowed our focus to now remain firmly on future success and sustained growth.

Our AGM noted the establishment of our Southern Region team, delivering services and programs from The Centre to communities located within the Mitchell Shire. Initiated in 2017, this team was developed in response to requests from local communities for training, following the closures of Learn Locals during 2016 and 17.

Big Bytes for Small Organisations

A series of workshops begins later this month with the aim to help local community groups use technology to attract, retain and support volunteers.

This training is made possible thanks to a partnership between The Centre for Continuing Education Inc. and North East Tracks Local Learning and Employment Network and with funding from the Victorian Government’s Volunteering Digital Literacy and Technology Readiness program.

The workshops aim to enhance the digital literacy and readiness to use new technologies of local small and medium sized volunteer organisations.
