It has just been announced that The Centre in Wangaratta and Benalla is the winner of the ACFE 2006 Victorian Outstanding Provider of the Year for the second time in four years at a presentation ceremony held in Melbourne today.

On hand to receive the Award was The Centre’s Chief Executive Officer, Danny O’Donoghue, who also accepted the same award on behalf of The Centre in 2002. A delighted Mr O’Donoghue said “This is very exciting for The Centre, two Outstanding Provider Awards within four years is an incredible achievement. I believe the award is well deserved and is a direct reflection of the quality of our staff and their commitment to providing excellence in adult education, learning and engagement in our community.

I can’t speak highly enough about our dedicated members of our Board of Governance and staff, all of whom are continuously striving for improvement and seeking out new opportunities.”

The Centre in Wangaratta and Benalla will be celebrating Adult Learners’ Week this year with the presentation of the Anne Pennington Awards. The Award is presented to a person who has participated in a learning activity at The Centre and is recognised for their dedication and enthusiasm for learning. The Award, an initiative of the Board were first presented in 2005, in memory of a valued staff member and friend, Anne Pennington, who passed away before Christmas in 2004.
